BGS owns and operates a mobile laboratory consisting of two gas chromatographs (GCs) to perform onsite analytical services. The mobile lab is housed in an AeroLite RV trailer that provides a climate controlled setting. The instruments are SRI 8610 model C GCs equipped with a Photo-Ionization Detector (PID), Flame- Ionization detector (FID), and Dry Electrolytic Conductivity Detector (DELCD). Soil and water samples are injected into the GC by use of a Purge & Trap system by Method 5030, while soil gas samples are injected directly into the GC through an injection port. Samples can be analyzed using numerous methods such as Method 8021b, Method 8020, Iowa Method OA-1. We also use this equipment with our in-situ VOC logging system (MIP).
For a typical project, the equipment is calibrated using an initial calibration curve for the compounds of interest and checked daily using a midpoint calibration level. Duplicates, surrogate spiking, LCS, MS/MSD can be performed if QA/QC requirements dictate.
BGS's mobile laboratory services are a great fit for your TRIAD approached projects.
